Overview
University Heights, Ohio, nicknamed “the city of beautiful homes,” is a small suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, approximately 15 minutes from downtown and only minutes to the academically and culturally rich University Circle area. John Carroll University, a Jesuit institution of higher education, is in the heart of University Heights and provides vibrancy to the entire community. The university is located on over 60 acres and maintains lovely green spaces with landscaped lawns, numerous trees, and flower beds which is all enjoyed by the community.
Approximately 13,000 people call this charming, residential community their home. Ongoing university events offer local residents numerous opportunities and include football games, campus events, lectures, and “Community Day” at which local residents and city officials attend athletic events such as soccer and football and the Homecoming Street Fair. Moreover, Purvis Park provides recreational activities including swimming and tennis and there is a free concert series all summer long on the Wiley Middle School lawn.

University Heights Schools
The Cleveland Heights-University Heights School District serves both Cleveland Heights and University Heights, and a portion of South Euclid. It is comprised of seven elementary schools, three middle schools, and one high school. There is also an early childhood learning center and a school for students with emotional needs. The high school is known for its small school concept in which it is divided into five smaller “communities” within one school to provide students with numerous and varied academic offerings. There are also several private schools located within University Heights including Gesu Catholic Elementary School and Fuchs Mizrachi School.
