Overview
Solon, Ohio, captured the number 23 spot in Money’s 2009 list of America’s Best Places to Live. Solon is approximately equal distance to Cleveland and Akron, two large, metropolitan areas offering numerous employment opportunities in health care, academia, retail, and commercial/industry as well as being home to major employers such as Nestlé Prepared Foods, Erico Products, Keithley Instruments, Swagelok, Agilysys, and L’Oréal Products . Cleveland State University has a satellite campus in Solon and there are many shopping districts within minutes from town.
Just over 22,000 people call this dynamic community their home. Solon is known for its diverse selection of homes from apartments and condominiums to mid-range homes to large, luxury homes. There are three public golf courses throughout the city as well as a large, state-of-the art recreation/community center, parks and playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, and a skate park. In 2002, The Solon Center for the Arts opened to the community and offers a spacious art gallery, a large art studio, five music studios, a ballet studio, and a 200-seat theater.

The Solon City School District is comprised of four elementary schools, one lower middle school, one upper middle school, and one high school. The District is known for its excellent school system, with low teacher-student ratios and high state rankings as well as consistently high standardized test scores. It was rated Excellent with Distinction in 2007-2008.
